California Wildlife Day-Spark your Curiosity Nature Journal Workshop

March 20, 2021 @ 11:30 am - 12:30 pm PDT

Please visit the THIS PAGE for registration and agenda.

In nature journaling, we pay closer attention to the natural world and record our observations on paper using words, drawings, and numbers. By keeping a nature journal, we sharpen our awareness, deepen our knowledge and relationship with nature, and cultivate curiosity and a sense of wonder.

You will be introduced to these foundations of nature journaling and how to use this tool for learning, notice more in nature, and feel more connected to the natural world. No prior experience needed.

Materials needed: Bring a sketchbook or paper, pen/pencil, (optional colored pencils or watercolor), 2 leaves from your garden, plant or vegetable drawer, and your curiosity.  If you don’t have leaves, you can share Melinda’s.

Melinda Nakagawa, MSc. is founder of Spark in Nature and hosts the Monterey Bay Nature Journal Club. She is a scientist, naturalist and educator who guides people to adopt and sustain a nature journaling practice to help open eyes to wonder, bring a sense of calm and joy, and connection with the natural world. Melinda has been keeping nature journals for over 20 years.
