Nature journaling: Open your eyes to wonder (Lyceum -online)

October 31, 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 3:15 pm PDT

Nature journaling: Open your eyes to wonder

Nature Journaling is the art of observing nature and recording what you see using a combination of words, drawings, and numbers. When we are drawing something in nature, we focus our careful attention and begin to see things that we’ve often overlooked. It’s a practice that sharpens our awareness, deepens our knowledge and relationship with nature, and cultivates curiosity and wonder.

We’ll learn how to keep a nature journal, cover the basics of getting started, what to put on a blank page, and how to see more of nature. We will practice techniques for observational drawings, and strategies for visual thinking to deepen curiosity and sense of wonder.

The goal of nature journaling is to see and experience more of the world around us. It slows us down and focuses our attention in nature—a greatly calming antidote to a technology-filled life.
